We are pleased to announce that Southern Nevada Bicycle Coalition is hosting the local 2016 National Bike Challenge! The Challenge starts May 1 and runs through September 30, 2016.
The Challenge is an easy logging center for you to record the miles you ride while competing with other riders locally as well as all over the country. Beyond that, the Challenge is also a community of people who all share a love of riding bikes.
The Challenge has many great prizes, and each month prizes will be given away to reward Challenge participants. The more you bike, the better your chance of winning (and the better the prizes) will be! Keep your eye on our site for a list of prizes as well as winners. Winners will be contacted directly via email.
DO MY MILES ON THE TRAINER COUNT?
Miles pedaled on a trainer, stationary bike, or throttle-assisted electric bicycle are not eligible to be logged in the National Bike Challenge. Miles traveled on a pedal-assisted electric bicycle (devices that provide assistance only when the bicyclist is pedaling) may be recorded in the National Bike Challenge. We recognize that pedal-assisted electric bicycles open the world of bicycling to people who may not be able to ride a traditional bicycle due to fitness, age, or disability. They can also provide a gateway to the use of traditional bicycles. These devices are consistent with the primary objective of the National Bike Challenge, which are to encourage bicycling and promote the health, economic, and environmental benefits that accompany the use of bicycles for recreation and transportation.
It doesn’t matter if you’re riding hundreds of miles a week or just a couple every weekend. The point is to get back in the saddle and encourage others to do the same.

GET INVOLVED AS A PARTICIPANT
Create an account with your email address. Log your miles manually or sync with one of the three apps: Strava, MapMyRide or Endomondo. As you log your miles and earn points, you can see where you stack up on the leaderboards with other participants across the country.
GET INVOLVED WITH A WORKPLACE
Your company can create a workplace group as a way to promote bicycling in the office. The Challenge is an awesome (and free) tool to motivate your coworkers to ride to work or ride for fun. You’ll all be competing for the same team, but will also be able to see where you stand against your coworkers. A little friendly competition never hurt anyone.
GET INVOLVED WITH A TEAM
Once you sign up, you can log your miles with a team made up of your cycling team members, club members, or friends and family.
Ask everyone you know to join in!
GET INVOLVED WITH A SCHOOL
Show some school spirit while you log your miles! Take part in the Challenge with fellow students and staff. This category is open to all elementary schools, middle schools, high schools and universities.
